For The Love of Peplum

Hello lovlies, this past week has been hectic with exams but today marks my first official day of winter break! However, this past Sunday I was able to sneak some time to get away from all the stress. My lovely bf took me out to the same restaurant (Panorama) we had one of our first dates at & oddly enough it was raining the second time around - it's a shame because the restaurant is located on the 52nd floor and the view is amazing, it just didn't show up so well on camera :( - maybe the third time's a charm? lol. Nonetheless I was able to take a few pictures of my outfit before hand. I ended up wearing a textured peplum (not visible in the pictures) with a pair of leather pants,  patent leather pumps & topped it off with a statement piece necklace. I also ended up curling my hair - enjoy :)

a little sunshine in the cold

Living in Canada, where the seasons are extreme, I always find myself picking out the typical winter colours for my sweaters and jackets - theses tend to be blacks and greys. So that's why last year I vowed to add more colour into my winter closet, unfortunately for me, it's a lot easier said than done. I think it's important to not let the winter beat up your wardrobe when it's freezing and bitter. So be bold and buy some colour. My absolute favourite sweater is my bright yellow sweater that i bought from a boutique in SoHo, NYC & I absolutely love it! It's comfy, cute and bright. I wore at the beginning of this chaotic exam week with a pair of leggings & my uggs. Enjoy & have a great day :)

Lippies

Hey lovlies ! Being a make up addict I'm constantly on the search for new products - however my rule of thumb with make up is that it should enhance your look opposed to taking over your face. That's why on a day-to-day to basis I prefer to wear neutrals with golden-peachy undertones. With that said it's a lot easier said than done. With such an array of colours and tones to choose from it can be a little bit overwhelming. So when I'm looking for complementary colours I always keep in mind a few things; first of all, skin undertone - I can not stress this enough ! You need to find out what your undertone is (red, neutral, beige, yellow, gold). Once you've figured that out, you're already half way there - you can pick out colours that have a simliar undertone tone. If you're having trouble figuring this out, you can just go to a make up store and they will gladly tell you. Secondly ladies, keep in mind how comfortable you are - bare in mind where you're going to be wearing your lipsticks, what lighting and if you feel comfortable wearing certain shades. for example, I bought Lady Gaga's Viva Glam I bright pink & every time I wore it I thought it looked too beg for attention lol I eventually got used to it & now I wear it every once in a while. And finally the texture of the lipstick/lipgloss - some people are highly irritated with extremely tacky lipglosses, some people don't like matte lipsticks. Ideally you're looking for something that's moisturizing opposed to drying - nobody wants dried up lipstick ! So here are some of may favourite lippies & lipglosses - you'll notice I put a red in there too - that's because I've been wearing red a lot more often :)

Lipsticks
1. MAC Kinda Sexy
2. MAC Ravishing
3. MAC Please Me
4. MAC Viva Glam I Lady Gaga (Limited Edition)
5. MAC Ruby Woo

Lipglosses
6. NARS Giza
7. BUXOM Cremesicle (lip plumper)
8. Victoria Secret Baby Doll
9. CLINIQUE Pudgy Peony
10. MAC Lust

Back to the Basics

Hey y'all - I hope you've missed me! I've been quite MIA for a while, actually I haven't blogged since the beginning of summer. I moved during the summer and was preoccupied with all of the junk that comes with moving & now I'm back in school (actually I'm in school as I write this). After contemplating for a while about whether or not to continue blogging I've decided that I will just because I love doing so. However, I've decided that it isn't realistic for me to continuously make an outfit the day while juggling friends, work & school. Therefore this blog will become more of a mixture of outfits, product reviews and hair & make up tips.

So lets begin! First and foremost I am a lover of make up but more so I love trying new products - expensive and inexpensive. Recently I've been seeing burgnundy EVERYWHERE - so i decided to give it a shot - on my lips! That's right - I know that typically burgundy lips is associated with a more Gothic look but I feel if you can find the right shade it can look very classy. Initially I fell in love with "Afghan Red" by NARS but seeing as burgundy is definitely a trend and lipsticks take forever to run out i opted for a more inexpensive lippy. So I bought Rimmel's "Bordeaux". First of all, for anybody on a cost conscious budget, Rimmel makes great quality lipsticks & they're only $6. They have the right amount of moisture and are well pigmented. Bordeaux happens to be a complimentary shade for most and is very buildable - it allows you to go from a deep cherry red to a very dark maroon. Being a strong pigmented lipstick you definitely need to apply lip liner - I used "Brick" by MAC and it stayed on my lips all day - although I did have to touch up a bit after dinner.  Word of caution about darker lipsticks: they make lips look smaller. Enjoy!

Mother's Day

Hey lovlies - I've been so busy working this past week that this is my first day off since I got back. Therefore I haven't been able to blog in a week. However I did manage to take some piccy's today right before I went out to lunch with my lover. Today is also mothers day - so happy mother's day to all the lovely mothers out there. I  had a great breakfast with my famjam this morning & will heading out to dinner with my mother tonight ! So I decided to wear something light & bright for today as the weather is nice out. I wore my lime green shirt tucked into my electric blue pants and finished it off with my calf hair flats that I bought from NYC. I have to say this is one of my favourite outfits yet - so comfortable yet trendy.

Today was my first day back &the weather was amaze ! Instead of hanging around at home all day the bf & I decided to go out for lunch. If you haven't noticed already I adore sheer shirts - they're comfy & versatile. I've been on the hunt for a sheer, black button up for a while now & just before I left I found one at Dynamite however I decided to wait - thank God I did because I ended up finding this cute one at Forever 21 at NYC which was only $22 - furthermore I love the white detailing on it - for a casual look I wore it with my nude flats, a statement piece necklace & ring (which I'm in love with atm). Hope you've all had a great weekend !

When in NYC

Hello lovlies - sorry for being so mia recently ! I just got back from my trip to NYC with my bf - we had an AMAZING time there. I highly recommend all fashionista's to go visit - there is an endless supply of shops ranging from small boutiques in SoHo to 5 floor-deep stores in Times Square (where most stores don't close till or past midnight!) & the food there is equally as amazing with an endless supply of cafe's, pizzeria's & restaurants - I can see why obesity is a problem lol - I could devote an entire posting to just the food alone however we're here to discuss clothes - so I ended up bringing back a suit case worth of clothes which I'll be showing in upcoming posts ! On the first night we were there we went to a Yankee's game - I decided to wear my hot pink trousers & pair it up with my nude flats & black & white shirt. |It was quite cold so i brought my trench coat with my - Enjoysies

Rain Rain Go Away

The weather has been really crappy recently, either it's cold & rainy or sunny & windy - but more so of the former, with that said hopefully May brings in warmer weather ! For the time being I've been wearing my rain boots for the most part & I'm so happy that I invested in a pair with this past winter being more rainy than anything else. With that being said, it doesn't mean that you should look frumpy while wearing rain boots but at the same time ladies, please don't wear your cute summer dresses with them either - I saw somebody do this & it's looked too contradictory for my liking - so I paired mine up with my cape jacket, since there is only a small  time frame when I can wear it. Enjoy !

Pants: Parasuco
Boots: SoftMoc

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy

I'm a serious lover of food & dressing up - so when I end up going out on a lot of lunch and dinner dates. I think every girl should dress when going out even if it's only with the girls or a coffee date. No occasion is too small to dress up for. On this particular day I was going for lunch so I wore my cream blouse, black shorts, heels & red lips ! What I love about this outfit is that it was so easy & each piece can be worn numerous times - Enjoy lovlies.

A Bit of Fun

Hello ladies & Daniel (lol) - It's been really cold recently & I've been a bit busy getting everything ready for my trip to NYC next week therefore I've been neglectful so I've decided to do two posts today -  I'll begin with what I wore today which was this cute, lilac mini. I adore mini, "A-line" skirts, they\re so fun & flirty and are versatile enough to wear for 3 out of the 4 seasons. However that wasn't enough for today so I paired it with my giraffe printed tights, which can be a bit tricky. I find that printed tights can look a bit overwhelming when not done correctly. I find the best rule of thumb is to keep the rest of the outfit clean and  polished so with that in mind stay away from prints, too much colour and too many layers that way you won't look lost in your outfit !
