MAC To The Future!

Hello lovers, as mentioned in my previous post I'm doing another review on a lipstick that I've fallen in love with. As the name of the post indicates, MAC's Pro Longwear Lipcreme To The Future (that was long) is the one I'll be reviewing. Let me first start out by saying that you can only purchase this product at the MAC Pro stores, high volume stores or online - there's only one MAC Pro store in Toronto located at 363 Queen St West. If you live south of the border I believe you can also purchase them at any major department stores i.e. Macy's (which is where I got mine from). It claims to be creamy, last for 12 hours and keep the lips hydrated. It definitely has a creamy finish however in terms of application I would classify it as a hybrid between a creamy lipstick and matte lipstick, in the sense that it doesn't glide on. It's very pigmented and has great lasting power. If anything, I would classify this lipstick just as a sister of the MAC matte lipsticks. The only major difference is that the Pro lipsticks aren't as drying (which I know most people dislike about the MAC matte lipsticks) & the Pro lipsticks have a sheen to them but ever so slightly. As far as the 12 hours go, I have yet to be successful at keeping any lipstick on for that long especially with eating and drinking. However, it definitely will hold up for about  6 hours including eating and drinking. With all that aside, it's an amazing lipstick. It's super pigmented (dare I say more then the Rouge Volupte) and has great staying power - there's nothing more annoying than having to constantly reapply your lipstick after every meal or drink. They come in a range of different colours and the packaging is very sleek, same matter finish as the other MAC lipsticks. All in all, it's perfect for wear throughout the day (especially during work) and even better for a night out. Let me know your favorite lipsticks - xo.

Y-S-L, I Ain't Gotta Spell It

Hello darlings, I recently received a couple of new lipsticks & I love both of them so much I just had to review them. The first one is Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte in #13 & I actually received it as an anniversary gift. First of all the packaging is to die for & so it should be with the steep price tag of $39! So I definitely would recommend trying the colours on before committing even though Sephora has an amazing return policy. Oddly enough I have been eyeing this lipstick for over a year and wasn't able to find the perfect shade until recently! The actual formula is just as amazing as one should expect from YSL, it's creamy, moisturizing and highly pigmented. It's also very shiny (no need for lipgloss - another bonus) & surprisingly holds up longer than I expected with such a creamy formula. Usually I'm disappointed in higher end make up but this was a pleasant surprise. If you can't tell already I'm obsessed with this lipstick & highly recommend it, the only set back is the price but in this case you really get what you're paying for. Xo

All Black Everything

As promised I'm uploading my few outfits from Niagara. We ended up going to the casino both nights - for the first night I just threw my hair up into a sock bun & went with a light smokey eye, which I created using Urban Decay's Naked palette. I wore my Steve Madden flats, a pair of leather leggings, a backless tank & my favourite, structured Zara blazer (that I have in two colours). I was a bit apprehensive of the dress code and after talking to a few people I ended up with this all black combo. xo.

Two Year Anniversary

Hello lovelies, if you read my Niagara post from last week then you'll already know that I celebrated my two year anniversary last weekend. I had such an amazing time and honestly my boyfriend & I were in disbelief that it has been two years already! I am so grateful not only for my stable, strong and amazing relationship but also for my amazing boyfriend who I absolutely adore & admire. So I thought I'd share a few pics from the night. I hope you guys are having a great weekend - xo

An Everyday Affair

Hello lovelies, when I know I have a long day ahead of me (8+ hours - yikes!) which usually consists of work and school, I like to wear light Bronze-y/neutral make up which allows me to look fresh all day and I only need a minor touch up. Vanilla, golds and browns are generally complementary on all skintones as it gives the appearance of a sun-kissed look. Yesterday was the first time I wore Joe Fresh make-up. This look is also very versatile and is appropriate for work and school or even for everyday wear. I recorded a video reviewing the Joe Fresh makeup line which I will be posting shortly on YouTube (Yay!). I will let you know as soon as its posted. Let me know if you've ever tried the line & your thoughts - xo.

For this look I am wearing:

Joe fresh Silk on the tear duct and brow bone, Goldust on the eyelid and Twig on the crease. I also have Naked from the Naked palette on the crease.
On my lips I am wearing Buxom Nantucket and Rimmel Baby Doll

P.S. my eyes look a bit different in each picture because I was trying to get the best lighting for you guys to see it :)

MOTD

More than anything I love make-up. I am completely obsessed, not only with the application aspect but with trying new products, looks, brands & colours. Everything that I know is self-taught. However it can be very overwhelming so I highly recommend researching products, there are so many product reviews out there on YouTube, Makeup Alley, Sephora & many more. It's crucial to identify your needs before attempting to begin your search - somethings to consider are price point, effectiveness, colour and texture, not everything that works on a celebrity or your fave YouTube guru is going to work for you, no matter how expensive it is. I hope some of these tips are useful & check back as I'll constantly be reviewing products :)

For yesterday's look I wore:

NARS Albatross on the brow bone & tear duct
From the Naked palette Sidecar on the lid, Naked and Hustle on the crease and Smog on the outer corner
Mac In Anticipation and Chatterbox on the lips

Party nails

My fab combo ATM. I've always been one to shy away from bright nail polishes but recently I grew my nails out & have been experimenting. I absolutely adore urban outfitters' nail polishes, they have super dupery colours ! They dry fast & and are well pigmented.

Benefit's Lemon Aid Review

Hello lovelies  I've been testing SO many new products recently - at all price ranges so for the next while I'll be reviewing them one by one. The first one that I'm going to start of with is Benefits Lemon Aid, which can be purchased from Sephora for $26. If you know me then you know that one of the MAJA problems that I deal with is my heavy under-eye circles (thanks to my lovely mother lol). Initially I thought it was an under-eye corrector, however it turned out to be a colour correcting eyelid primer. After doing some research on the product I noticed that many ladies had been using it as an under-eye corrector & it received mixed reviews. So I decided to try it out on my eyelids & under-eye area. First of all lets start out with the PRO's - the packaging is absolutely adorable, it's small and comes with a mirror. The consistency of the product is decent -  it's creamy but not buttery so it's more on the stiff side but it's not tacky therefore you shouldn't have to tug on your eyelids to spread it around. I would recommend just dabbing it with a finger (to warm up product and make distributing easier) or applying it with a concealer brush. Now for the CON's, this product really isn't for many people out there as it is pretty well pigmented and yellow therefore only working well with yellow skintones. The other problem is that once applied to the skin this product becomes blotchy with uneven pigment concentration and it's definitely NOT suitable for the under-eye area. Another issue is that this product slightly lightens some of my eyeshadows and I noticed that the product caused slipping when paired with cream eyeshadows. The product looks great in the package but horrible on the face. All-in-all I would skip this product. If you've tried it and/or think differently let me know! xo
